Have You Met...

My Quest to make Obama our next President...

In my continuous quest to make people (specifically Latinos) aware of the positive changes Barack Obama can bring I encourage you to read as much as you can. Reading equals Awareness and in a time when economic and political woes are covered by a sheer blanket of silence being AWARE is essential to our survival. As a country, as a nation, as a people.

One reason, among the many, that I support Barack Obama is because he inspires me. I've had many inspirations throughout my lifetime but when Obama speaks I feel the depth of his words and the strength of his voice. He inspires me to see the sky as my limit when it comes to my career, my life and the inspiration that I hope to bring to my child.

But with all high's come low's and the low here is still the fact that the Latino vote is not backing Obama. It was said to me recently, by an "old school" Latino man, that he wouldn't want to see a Black man run "his" country during his lifetime. The ignorance of that statement cut me like a knife because he obviously is unAWARE of his lineage and ancestors...who more then likely had some trace of African roots!

There's beauty in the cross-cultural aspects of Latinos and Blacks and something that should be widely shared with our youth as well as those "old schoolers" who still believe there is no connection.

I recently read a story entitled, "Young, Black and Inspired by Barack Obama" and it really hit home. The similarities of her story to my own was astounding and only confirmed, again, that our connections out weigh our differences. Check it out for yourself...
