What you need to know about me:
JRod (as she's commonly referred to by friends) is a native New Yorker, proud Boricua and multi-media journalist with an appetite for adventure. Lots of stumbles and life lessons at a few brand name schools convinced her that her true calling was to craft words and images, shatter assumptions and seek truths that would stimulate brain cells globally. She happily calls Brooklyn home, but her wanderlust has led her to call Boston, Chicago, Atlanta and Buenos Aires, homes as well. When not spreading truth or plotting world domination, this future media mogul and self-professed magazine junkie loves to dance, write poetry and feeds her pop culture addiction with cable and reality TV.

The stuff I’m obsessed with:
Eavesdropping on conversations in foreign languages to see if I can figure out what's being said; scarves of every color that I can wrap myself up in; extra large purses; flat summer sandals; the color white; increasing my music collection to include classic musicians like Ray Charles, John Coltrane, Fela Kuti and anyone else I recently discover.

What I can’t live without:
My family (blood and chosen) which has given me the confidence and support to grow up and out; a pen that allows me to scribble down all the thoughts that run through my head; art in its many forms that gives beauty but awakens me to ideas; room and space to grow up and out; my purple teddy bear Prince; french fries; carmax lip balm; silver hoops.
