What you need to know about me:
There is dust and sunburned grass. There are knife fights and gunshots. Two-lane highways recount mangled cars. Employed as security guards, drunk men, pull .45's on 13 year-old boys in parking lots. Native Americans catch payouts by opening up a Casino on the unforgotten Res. Mexican immigrants break backs over fields of vegetables, reach higher into orchards to pull down fruit. White men own farms and grocery stores. Children learn to hate themselves and their surroundings. Methamphetamines. Alcohol. Marijuana. Criminal Society. And still, you may catch a child laughing. Rejoice. The Game remains, the Life stretches its fingers into even the dirt road county of Yolo. We pimp negativity into creation. This is where I'm from.

Music that’s in my head (and playlists):
One day as a Lion... Los Cojolites... Anything Rumba... Anything from Mali... Old School Vallenato... Cumbia... Lavoe and the Fania family... All of it. There's a little guitar at the foot of my bed and next to my pillow, a piano that my house-mate pounds once in the morning when he wakes me up, and once at midnight before catching some sleep.
